
David M Mutch, Professor
David completed his Ph.D at the Université de Lausanne (Switzerland) and his B.Sc at Queen’s University (Canada). During his postdoctoral fellowships at The Scripps Research Institute (USA) and the INSERM (France), he worked in the fields of precision nutrition and obesity. David is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Lifestyle Genomics. Outside of the lab, David is interested in soccer, hiking, cooking, reading, and travelling.

Melissa Gonzalez-Soto, PhD Candidate
Melissa completed her M.Sc degree at the University of Guelph (Canada) and her B.Sc at the Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico). Melissa is studying how plant and dairy proteins regulate hepatic fatty acid desaturation. Outside of the lab, Melissa is interested in dog training and discovering new hiking trails.

Brittany MacIntyre, PhD Candidate
Brittany completed her B.Sc at the University of Waterloo (Canada) and her Masters of Bioinformatics at the University of Guelph (Canada). Brittany investigates urinary metabolites for to discover non-invasive biomarkers of fatty acids related to nutrient and health status. Outside of the lab, Brittany is interested in competitive swimming, etymology, heritage buildings, and making homemade maple syrup.

Patrick McTavish, PhD Student
Patrick completed his B.Sc in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph (Canada). Patrick is studying the influence of omega-3 fatty acids on lipid handling in adipose tissue using both cell culture and mouse models. Outside of the lab, Patrick is interested in science-based strength training, trying new recipes, and personal finance.

Kayani Shanmuganathan, MSc Student
Kayani completed her B.Sc in Life Sciences at McMaster University (Canada). Kayani is studying the relationships between the omega-3 index and cardiometabolic risk factors. Outside of the lab, Kayani is interested in travelling, watching movies/shows, singing and sewing!

Joo Yeon Lee, MSc Student
Joo Yeon (Lusia) completed her B.Sc in Biological Sciences at the University of Guelph (Canada). Lusia is studying the relationships between dairy intakes, blood fatty acids, and cardiometabolic risk factors. Outside of the lab, Lusia is interested in painting, graphic design, and cooking!

Isabella completed her B.Sc in Health Sciences at McMaster University (Canada). Isabella is studying how dairy and soy diets effect omega-3 fatty acid absorption. Outside of the lab, Isabella is interested in reading, golfing, knitting, and listening to new music.

Mathieu Clavet, MSc Student
Mathieu (Matt) completed his B.Sc in Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto (Canada). Mathieu is studying how thermal conditions and omega-3 fatty acids modulate lipid metabolism in a Fat-1 mouse model. Outside of the lab, Mathieu plays varsity lacrosse and is interested in sports business, movies and television, and zythology

Cameron Taylor, BSc Student
Cameron is in his fourth year of Biomedical Science at the University of Guelph. Cameron is investigating the role of the FADS2 gene in the conversion of α-linolenic acid (ALA) into EPA and DHA using cell culture models. Outside of the lab, Cameron is interested in weight training, playing sports, and listening to music!

Isabella Antonacci, BSc Student
Isabella is currently completing her B.Sc in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph (Canada). Isabella is studying ALA conversion into DHA in adipocytes. Outside of the lab, Isabella is interested in exercising at the gym, running, traveling and soccer.

Daniel is currently in his 4th year completing his B.Sc in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph (Canada). Daniel is studying how EPA and DHA regulate the pathways controlling CPCA production. Outside of the lab, Daniel is interested in skiing, travelling, camping, and spending time in nature.
